See the water and the money your farm could capture.
Basinward helps Utah farms use less water, win government cost-share, and earn more per acre — then sends the saved water toward the Great Salt Lake. Run the numbers below.
Your estimate
LiveThe gap between the bars is water you free up each year.

Three steps. We carry most of the load.
You farm. We handle the engineering and the paperwork that stands between you and the funding.
We assess your farm
We map your fields, crops, and irrigation, then pinpoint where water — and money — is leaking out of your operation.
We win the funding
We write the AWOP and EQIP applications — the technical case, the budgets, the forms — to maximize the cost-share you qualify for.
You save water & money
You install the improvements, cut your water use, earn more per acre, and the water you free up flows toward the Great Salt Lake.
More crop per drop — and a partner who does the hard parts.
More crop per drop
Our goal isn't just lower water use — it's more income per acre-foot. We help you make more money on every drop you apply.
We handle the grant
About 1 in 3 applicants get funded — so the writing matters. We build applications designed to win, and we do the paperwork for you.
You stay in control
This is your water and your land. Every choice is yours — we bring the analysis and the funding, never a claim on your operation.
The Great Salt Lake is shrinking. Farm water is the biggest lever — and the best funded.
Utah is investing heavily in agricultural water optimization. The crops and equipment most farms run are exactly where the opportunity is. Read our analysis of the Box Elder data center and the Great Salt Lake →
Utah farm water cost-share, answered.
How much does the Utah Agricultural Water Optimization Program (AWOP) pay?
AWOP cost-shares 50% of approved efficient-equipment costs — up to 75% for subsurface drip and automated surge — to a cap of $500,000 for on-farm projects and $1,000,000 for canal and irrigation companies. Basinward designs the project and prepares the application for you.
Who qualifies for agricultural water cost-share in Utah?
On-farm AWOP funding is open to Utah agricultural water users with a valid water right or share. USDA EQIP funding is available through your local NRCS office. We confirm your eligibility during the free Water Opportunity Assessment.
Do I have to use less water — won't that hurt my yield?
No. Our goal is more crop per drop. Many farms modernize irrigation or move some acres to higher-value crops and earn more per acre while freeing water that flows toward the Great Salt Lake.
What does Basinward charge?
We charge a transparent consulting fee for the assessment, design, grant application, and installation support — never a percentage of your grant. Your initial Water Opportunity Assessment is free.
How long does the cost-share process take?
Plan on roughly 9 to 18 months from assessment to reimbursement, since AWOP and EQIP run on annual cycles. We map every deadline and handle the paperwork so nothing slips.
Who helps Utah farmers apply for AWOP or EQIP water cost-share?
Basinward, a Salt Lake City consultancy, helps Utah farms and irrigation companies design water-efficiency projects and win Utah Agricultural Water Optimization Program (AWOP) and USDA EQIP cost-share funding. Your first Water Opportunity Assessment is free, and our fees are never a percentage of your grant.
